Rai license fee, "Show me what TV you have": obligation waived for all owners of this model | The decree has been confirmed.

Now you pay the RAI license fee based on the model of TV you have at home; the obligation no longer exists for those who have just this one.
In recent weeks, the good old RAI license fee, one of the most hated taxes among Italian citizens, has drawn the spotlight. But who could blame it? In such a difficult time for our finances, avoiding a few extra payments would be a real godsend.
But in the meantime, the good old RAI license fee remains on our bills and risks upsetting the already precarious balance of our dear economy.
Many people, in an attempt to cut costs, decide it's time to look for solutions, something that allows them to enjoy an exemption from payments and keep a few dozen extra euros in their pockets.
From this perspective, the possibility of not paying the fee thanks to an exemption for the type of device you own becomes much more important than you might think.
RAI license fee, amounts and exemptionsThe current RAI license fee is €90 , which is paid monthly on your electricity bill. This payment method has always been controversial because it's considered unfair to citizens. The RAI license fee law also offers the possibility of obtaining some exemptions, but these must be requested at your local Revenue Agency office to avoid paying the fees.
Generally, exemptions are available if you reach certain age or ISEE limits, or if you suffer from a disabling condition. You may also be able to waive the fee based on your television set.

What we're referring to is the possibility of not paying the RAI license fee if you don't own a television set. Only in that case is it possible to avoid payment, but always by submitting the forms to the local Revenue Agency office. In that specific case, you can apply for exemption.
Obviously, the obligation in this case kicks in when you purchase a television and equip yourself with one. While we're accustomed to thinking of a TV being present in the home on a regular basis, there are families who live without one and for them there's no license fee.
